Surrounded by the infamous emerald lake and stunning mountain peaks, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise offers a luxury space for your dream wedding. This iconic venue is full of character and historic charm. With an array of indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces and reception halls, there’s a unique space to make your fairytale wedding dreams come true.
We would love to share a bit of the backstory behind the venue. After the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885, the president of CPR built the first Chalet at Lake Louise in 1890 as a hotel for outdoor enthusiasts. The original cabin was burned down, replaced, and went through expansion, eventually being renamed Chateau Lake Louise in 1925. The statue that you and your guests may see coming in the main lobby honours the millennia-old indigenous presence in the mountains by the Blackfoot, Kootenay, and Stoney/Nakoda peoples. Finally, the hotel went through major renovations and the addition of the Glacier Wing in the late 1980s and the Mount Temple Meeting Facility in 2004, making the venue what it is today.
The Fairmont Chateau is a favourite Lake Louise wedding venue of ours. We love the magnificent views around the place, it’s truly one of the best views in the world there. The Victoria Ballroom is incredibly well lit and looks great for filming, while also offering plenty of space for guests. We find it’s quite convenient for vendors to work there as there are plenty of rooms for storage and because it’s easy to move around the venue. With delicious food offered too, the Fairmont Chateau is truly an unbeatable and iconic castle.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
For all our ski lovers out there, why not have your ski trip and wedding all together? The landscape surrounding Lake Louise Ski Resort is truly magnificent with grand mountainous views and glaciers. This venue offers group tubing for winter, guided hikes perfect for summer, and a serene atmosphere for your special day.
We enjoy how this place is grand and spacious, all while offering beautiful views too. If you’re into skiing or snowboarding, there’s also a lift that can take you up the mountains for unique footage that reflects your passion for the sport! The Lake Louise
Ski Resort
Built beside the stunning and iconic Emerald Lake, the Emerald Lake Lodge is an ideal wedding venue to disconnect from your busy life and reconnect with the serene nature of Lake Louise. Wifi is only available in the main lodge and guest rooms are without televisions. This immersive experience is made tranquil with the venue’s historic architecture and lodge-like atmosphere. With three rooms accommodating weddings of up to 88 guests, and guest rooms featuring a fieldstone fireplace and private balcony with view of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, this venue is the perfect memorable, romantic getaway.
Personally, we love the lake at this venue. It’s magnificent both in the summer with its classic Emerald shine and when it’s frozen in the winter looking straight out of a fairytale (note that this venue only hosts weddings between October to April during the winter months). Along with the lush trees and breathtaking mountains around the lodge, the scenery here is like straight from a postcard and looks incredibly magical both in-person and through our film. Moreover, the lodge is a great place to stay at for you and your guests. The cabins are exceptionally cozy, with no wifi or reception (other than in their lobby) so that you can disconnect and be present during your celebration. We also find that they have a great hot tub and tasty food.

Emerald Lake Lodge
As an honourable mention, Island Lake Lodge in Fernie BC is another favourite venue of ours that still offers spectacular views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and lush forests. Nearby activities include hiking trails and canoeing on Island Lake. This venue is designed with quietude in mind with no televisions or phones in their cozy lodge rooms. For couples looking for an off-the-grid wedding experience surrounded by nature, this backcountry resort is perfect for you.
This venue holds a special place in Oscar's heart (founder and lead videographer at Castaño Films) as it is where he filmed his very first wedding video back in 2016. Not only does Island Lake Lodge offer impressive views with the beautiful lake, lush trees and grand mountains in the backdrop, we also appreciate how the ceremony and reception spaces are quite roomy.
